Specialized Clinical Supervision
in Sexual Violence

Supporting Those Who Support

La Traversée puts its expertise to work for mental health professionals. We offer clinical supervision services to psychosocial practitioners (sexologists, criminologists, psychoeducators, social workers, etc.) and psychotherapists who support victims of sexual violence and complex trauma.

Our supervisors bring together a wealth of expertise across a range of therapeutic approaches. Together, they have accumulated years of clinical experience working with victims of sexual violence of all ages and genders.

Clinical supervision helps support professionals, develop their skills, and improve clinical practices. It is an opportunity for practitioners to connect with peers on topics that matter to them, in a warm and safe environment. Working with a supervisor also helps reduce professional isolation and prevent burnout or vicarious trauma.

This service is available in person or via telehealth, in individual or group formats.

Marie-Christine

Clinical Supervisor, Intervention in Cases of Sexual Violence

As a clinical psychologist, Marie-Christine has been working for over 11 years at the organisation La Traversée with children and adolescents who have experienced sexual abuse. Some of these clients have also experienced complex trauma. As part of her role, she also provides parenting guidance.

Over the years, Marie-Christine has trained in various approaches to trauma, including the Attachment, Regulation and Competence (ARC) model, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy (basic EMDR training and practice-oriented training in EMDR with young people), trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy (TF-CBT), as well as various training courses on dissociation. She also received training in play therapy during her doctoral studies. Her clinical experience at La Traversée has enabled her to develop in-depth expertise in sexual abuse and complex trauma, as well as a wide range of knowledge, tools and intervention strategies. She prioritises a trauma-informed approach, based on clinical flexibility and tailoring interventions to the specific needs of each young person and their family.

She offers clinical supervision to psychosocial practitioners and psychotherapists working with young people. Her services are aimed at professionals wishing to deepen their understanding of the clinical issues associated with sexual abuse and complex trauma, and to develop their skills in these specialist areas.

Lise

Clinical Supervisor, Intervention in Cases of Sexual Violence

A clinical sex therapist and psychotherapist, Lise has 24 years’ clinical experience working with adults and couples. Having built up the bulk of her practice in the private sector, she has broadened her professional horizons to work in various settings, such as the health service and the community sector.

Trained in systemic and cognitive-behavioural approaches as well as EMDR, she has developed expertise centred on trauma, particularly in the context of sexual violence. Lise is also an advocate of the sexocorporal approach, which she has been teaching and practising for over 20 years. Drawing on her wide range of skills, she utilises various clinical tools to support survivors of sexual violence in their post-traumatic recovery process.

Lise offers clinical supervision to psychosocial practitioners and psychotherapists. This supervision is designed to provide support rooted in the realities of the field and attentive to the specific challenges of this demanding practice. For Lise, supervision is a special space for reflection on her practice, on the complexity of the people she sees, and on her own personal responses to these difficult realities.

Eliza

Clinical Supervisor, Intervention in Cases of Sexual Violence

A clinical sex therapist and psychotherapist, Eliza has been working in post-traumatic intervention since the start of her career in 2012. Specialising in the field of sexual violence, she has practised in a variety of settings and supported clients with diverse needs, aged 14 and over and of all genders.

With a cognitive-behavioural approach, her practice incorporates various theoretical frameworks and models (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Young’s Schema Therapy, attachment theory, etc.). Through her therapeutic expertise, she has developed a clinical practice grounded in trauma-informed care, guiding her clients towards post-traumatic growth with compassion and expertise.

Eliza offers clinical supervision for psychosocial practitioners and psychotherapists. Providing a space for support and reflection, this supervision addresses the specificities of intervention in the context of sexual violence, as well as the legal and ethical dimensions inherent in the practice of the profession. Eliza also pays particular attention to the experiences of professionals, recognising that caring for others often begins with caring for oneself.
