Dreaming of a Quebec Without Revolving Doors

A meaningful meeting to improve support for survivors of sexual violence

In March 2025, La Traversée had the honour of welcoming the Minister of Social Services, Mr. Lionel Carmant, along with the Member of the National Assembly for Marie-Victorin, Ms. Shirley Dorismond, and the MNA for Laporte, Ms. Isabelle Poulet. This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the realities faced by victims of sexual violence and to explore concrete solutions for improving care and services.

But above all, we dared to dream together: to dream of a Quebec without revolving doors. A Quebec where survivors no longer have to knock on countless doors, repeat their story over and over again, or go through endless steps to get the help they need.

A Quebec where, from the very first call, every person affected by sexual violence is met with integrated, compassionate, and effective support—whether medical, psychosocial, legal, judicial, or socio-economic.

We do not carry this dream alone. It is this very vision that guides our work within the Centre for Integrated Services in Sexual Violence (CIViS), where we are building innovative and accessible solutions for all.

We warmly thank Mr. Carmant, Ms. Dorismond, and Ms. Poulet for their attentive listening and their commitment to La Traversée. Because a mission like ours cannot be achieved without the strong engagement of our partners.

Our services are free of charge, offering barrier-free access to the support people need.
