Behind every donation lies a vision of the world.
When the Lise and Richard Fortin Foundation chooses to support La Traversée, it is more than a philanthropic gesture—it is a clear statement.
A statement that every person deserves dignity.
Deserves accessible care.
Deserves inclusion.
Strengthening an Essential Mission
La Traversée is pleased to announce a $5,000 donation from the Lise and Richard Fortin Foundation. This contribution strengthens our mission: providing free, specialized mental healthcare to victims of sexual violence of any age and any gender.
As Éric Fortin expresses:
“We are pleased to support La Traversée, whose commitment to victims of sexual violence resonates deeply with the core values of the Lise and Richard Fortin Foundation: dignity, inclusion, and well-being. This donation reflects our shared desire to create a positive and lasting impact in the world.”
Where Values Meet
What moves us most is the alignment between our missions.
Dignity, inclusion, and well-being are not just words—they are principles lived every day, both at La Traversée and within the Foundation.
Three pillars that remind us of a profound truth: healing is not a privilege, but a universal right.
For more than 40 years, La Traversée has defended this right by offering free, specialized, and personalized support to victims of sexual violence. Our approach is human, innovative, and grounded in the real needs of the people who walk through our doors.
A Unique Expertise in Montérégie
Founded in 1984, La Traversée has grown to welcome everyone: children, teens, adults, and seniors—regardless of their age, gender, or personal history.
Today, we remain the only organization in Montérégie offering free psychotherapy for adults who have experienced sexual violence, and one of only two organizations providing this support to children.
This expertise matters.
In 2024–2025, more than 251 individuals were supported through over 3,000 psychotherapy and psychosocial sessions.
Behind each number is a story of courage and rebuilding.
The Concrete Impact of Donations
A donation like the one from the Lise and Richard Fortin Foundation helps sustain and expand these essential services.
For a victim: it means a place of safety, respect, and centralized support—without having to repeat their story over and over.
For loved ones: it means knowing they are not alone in facing the devastating impacts of sexual violence.
For society: it is a step toward a collective, inclusive, and non-discriminatory response.
Philanthropy plays a crucial role.
It fuels innovation, reduces waitlists, and provides new therapeutic tools adapted to trauma.
Thank You for Walking With Us
Every gesture of support matters. But some resonate especially deeply because they reflect a true meeting of values and shared purpose.
Thank you to the Lise and Richard Fortin Foundation for walking with us on this path to healing.
Together, we affirm that dignity, inclusion, and well-being must guide us toward a future where access to specialized mental healthcare is recognized as a universal right—available to everyone.
